Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take you to do my commission? It depends on various factors like the size of the piece, how many pets are in a piece and so on but roughly a 9 x 12 inch piece takes about 50 hours, so a completion time of 2-4 weeks.

How long will it take before you start doing my commission? Once we have discussed your commission and you have paid your deposit you will be added to my waiting list and I will contact you just before I start your commission.

What photos of my pets should I send? I create the best possible artwork from the photo(s) you send. The artwork can only be as good as the photo. So when you send a photo make sure it's true to the right eye colour and fur colour; make sure that I can see the fur texture and direction; make sure there is no harsh lighting; the best lighting is natural lighting but not direct light, e.g. a bright cloudy day is best. If you aren't sure about the image just send it and I will say whether it works or if I need extra photos. If you're live close to me and you are struggling to get a good photo, I can come and take photos.

What materials do you use? I only use high quality materials. I use only lightfast coloured pencils, my personal favourite being Derwent Lightfast. Most of my portraits are done using only that brand. The paper I use is Strathmore Bristol.

I want more than one pet drawn, what are my options? There are a couple of options: you can either have individual portraits done in the size you want or I can combine in the same portrait but bear in mind that I do multiple pets in the size of 9 x 12 inches or above.

Do you take international commissions? Yes, I do take international commissions however there will be an additional postage charge.
